The extended summaries will be published online in the conference proceedings. The selected full length papers after peer review will be submitted in the Journal of Agrometeorology.

Agriculture dates back nearly 10,000 years. The rapid growth of the world’s population has caused an increase in demand for food production. The agriculture along with other sectors is responsible for climate change due to GHG emissions and it is also severely affected by these changes. Climate change and its variability is a threat to India’s agricultural growth and food security.
The earth’s temperature has increased at an average rate of 0.07°C per decade since 1880. Since 1981 the average rate of increase is 0.18°C which is more than twice the earlier rate (NOAA 2019). The signatures of climate change in India are resulting in more seasonal variation in temperature, droughts, floods, cyclones, extreme rainfall, frost, hailstorms etc. All this has direct bearing on crop production. In spite of rapid technological advancements (high yielding varieties, improved crop production and protection technologies, increased irrigation potential), agriculture in India is vulnerable to weather and climate change.
To reduce the impact of climate change on agriculture various agricultural technologies are being developed and adopted. Climate-smart agriculture is an approach that helps to guide actions needed to transform and reorient agricultural systems to effectively support development and ensure food security in a changing climate. The aim of these technologies are to sustainably increase agricultural productivity and incomes, adapting and building resilience to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It provides the means to help stakeholders from local to national and international levels identify agricultural strategies suitable to their local conditions. There is dire need to scale up the available technologies to enable the farmers in India to adopt climate smart agriculture technologies to cope with the impacts of the climate change.
